Visakhapatnam: ScrapQ, one of India's fastest growing scrap aggregators has bagged a five-year contract from the Waltair Railway Division as part of a waste management contract.

ScrapQ will start its services of collecting recyclables from trains culminating and passing through the division from Tuesday and further send it to the registered recyclers. This is for the first time in India that the division has taken the unique step to give a big leap towards sustainability goals of the Railways.

ScrapQ will be deploying its trained professionals to collect the recyclables from the passengers travelling in almost 75 trains before they end their journey. The Railways requested the commuters to keep their recyclables like empty water bottles and food containers near their seats.

ScrapQ intends to collect all recyclables, segregate further and send them to the right recyclers. This is expected to reduce carbon footprint and help achieve net zero goals in alignment with the 2030 climatic change goals.
